‘Alan Pardew Is A Hypocrite’ – Sir Alex Ferguson Tells Newcastle Boss To Button It

The fallout from Fergie’s much-discussed ‘words’ with ref Mike Dean on Boxing Day continues to be felt, with Newcastle boss Alan Pardew getting both barrels from the United boss.

Pardew had criticised Sir Alex for his barracking of Dean at half-time during the Magpies’ 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford, saying:

“I think Mike Dean might feel slightly disappointed he didn’t do something about it. I think the pressure that was on him was tough for a referee to take. I think there were a lot of things the FA could look at. But it seems they are looking at none.”

However, Fergie, not surprisingly, has been quick to have a pop back at Pardew, replying:

“I wasn’t abusive of the referee – some managers push the linesman and make a joke of it.”

“I’m not making a joke of it. I think [the goal] should’ve been disallowed, I really do. (Pardew) shoves the referee and makes a joke of it, and he’s got the cheek to criticise – it’s unbelievable.

“He forgets the help I gave him by the way.”

It’s fair to say that Pardew is no angel when it comes to abusing officials, however, when you consider that the very same Mike Dean sent Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to the stands (among braying United fans) for kicking a water bottle, it does seem rather odd that he didn’t even mention Fergie’s outburst in his post-match report.

Pardew was in the heat of the moment he was fined and banned that’s the difference, Ferguson had half time break to get over it but chose to abuse the the ref to get flavors in the second half Form of cheating i would say.

  2. UkePunk says:

    “Chose to abuse the ref”
You were there were you? You heard the conversations that went on between Ferguson and the officials?
No you didnt you muppet, wind your neck in and get your facts right before spouting rubbish.
Ferguson was wrong in what he did, it sets a bad example and he should have beeen punished for it. The fact that the Ref didnt bother to include it in his match report speaks volumes about how poor the majority of our Prem officials are.
Im a Man United fan by the way.
Strange how every time we are top of the league the haters jump on the bandwaggon and will have a go at absolutely anything but never give United praise where it is deserved.

It’s time for that drunken gobshite pensioner to hang it up. Every time he opens his whisky soaked hole, he embarrasses both himself and his club.

  4. Zam says:

When asked about it, didn’t the ref claim Fergie was “cordial”. lol

  5. MGJ says:

Not sure why these headlines have suprised anyone. All managers have a go at officials during and after games. Alex Ferguson might be one of the worst, but then he’s had a lot of time to perfect it.

  6. Zulu says:

Its a wonderful distraction ferguson’s created to take the presure off his players at a difficult time of year. Again displaying why his managerial ability is well above the competition, it is definitely an area where mourninho and ferguson are very similar.

  7. Dont Worry says:

I think fergie is going alright JS

Not a Utd fan, I hate Fergie honestly, but at no point does he say “Alan Pardew is a Hypocrite.” Great journalism Pies

  9. Alan Duffy says:

@packy – You will see that I’ve used single quotes rather than double for the ‘hypocrite’ comment. On Pies we used single quotes to paraphrase what someone has said (such as Fergie’s views on Pardew) and double quotation marks if it is an actual quote.

  10. Jamie says:

This now means that any other manager can do what Ferguson did and when they get done for it (because, not being Ferguson, they will) they have the right to feel rather pissed of about it.

Go on Al you tell him.

Pardew will be unfazed by these comments from SAF, who was out of line and should be punished for his persistent badgering of the referee. His comments about the status of Newcastle United as a club were also uncalled for and wrong, but when you’re as big as SAF is, you probably don’t care how disproportionate a response you make.

I think everyone will join me in being completely stunned that UkePunk is a Man United fan.
