As spotted outside the stadium before Liverpool’s 3-0 pre-season win over Thailand yesterday, here’s a small group of silly, ill-informed supporters (and we use the word “supporters” incredibly tenuously there) proudly holding aloft a Manchester United-baiting and largely nonsensical “Fergie go to hell, Munich 58” banner…

You know why they’ve done it: because they’ve seen “hardcore” Liverpool fans using Munich-based abuse to rile despised rivals Manchester United in the past and they think that by following suit it’ll somehow mark them out as “proper” fans – but in reality it’s just desperate, misjudged, utterly ignorant and incredibly pathetic, as hordes of actual LFC fans have already stated on Twitter/Facebook, etc while denouncing this vile crap.

These aren’t Liverpool fan, these are people pretending to be Liverpool fans.

    really cringe-makingly embarrassing to behold.

    Fucking small dicked yellow chinks

  3. Mr. Chopper says:

I once got a lift off a fella in Thailand in a fully-decked out LFC tuk-tuk. The works. Massive picture of Gerrard down the side. When he dropped me off and I tried talking to him about the game the day before he just looked at me like I’d just told him I’d f*cked his sister. Not a single clue.

  4. DoodleMaster says:

Chris, why are you supporting racist commenters like Dave? I liked you :(

  5. bestie says:

The only thing dumber than a Liverpool fan is a Thai Liverpool fan

  6. Dave says:

People like this just wind me up

  7. SL says:

I think there might have been more than a hint of sarcasm in Chris’s reply

  8. Andy35 says:

    Typical Liverpool fans…

DoodleMaster, I think Chris was being sarcastic…

“but in reality it’s just desperate, misjudged, utterly ignorant and incredibly pathetic” — a good summary of many overseas fans

  11. Fnarf says:

Who’s this “Ferguson” fellow, anyways? Way to keep up with the times, nimrods.

  12. TravisKOP says:

what a bunch of knobs. you summed this up brilliantly chris, well played

I don’t know why you let comments like Dave’s on this page. I thought they all went to moderation – if something like that can get through, what’s the moderation for?

  14. tigerteeth says:

People should rise above this shit. By lets say, not even publishing it on a website? Disappointing this even makes your news pies, lowbrow shit.

  15. andrea says:

@Nick and everyone else who wants to generalize… no, there are not that “many overseas fans” who behave this way. And yes, quite a few of us actually do know the game.

@Mr. Chopper, the guy probably just didn’t understand that much of your English, plus I doubt a tuktuk driver has cable or premium tv (which is the only way you get most live Prem League games in that part of the world) so he probably watches matches on replay days later. Even if he did, I doubt he’d have the energy to get up in the middle of the night just to watch games.

These particular assholes in Thailand are ignorant and terribly misguided, but everyone fanbase has the type. But gee, thanks for being fair-minded about the rest of us.

  16. Nick says:

@andrea — my point was that when you see people from countries all over the world claiming to be die hard supporters of manchester united or liverpool or real madrid. It rings a bit hollow

  17. raynard says:

your reply to dave made me piss myself. do you ever consider the consequences of your actions? no i suppose not, cuz chris thinks he is above the law.

  18. Baz says:

    @Nick

Some of those ‘overseas’ fans are just as dedicated as the ones living in the UK. Before the introduction of cable TV I was up watching text updates on every Arsenal game instead of going to school the next day and now I’ve been able to afford cable I haven’t missed a game since, and the games range from midnight to 6:45 in the morning on weekdays. We overseas fans are part of the reason that the Premier League is so huge right now. I’m not defending these plebs but c’mon, imagine if the EPL wasn’t televised and only the locals went to matches. Get your head out of the 80’s mate. It’s the world game.

Those idiot fans are the minority, and you can find them in the UK as well as overseas.

  19. Chris says:

@Porcelain Sandwich: Cos every once in a while it’s fun to show you guys some of the inane, inflamatory shite we have to deal with every single day on Pies.

  20. Kin Ju Bing says:

Liverpool fans are the same all over the world.

  21. Sunny says:

Hillsborough and Munich are tragedies and I see no reason for anyone to use them as the but of a joke. I am very disappointed. Being a liverpool fan is about standing together and helping each other out. I am not gonna lie I indulge in the occasional rivalry argument but that’s what competition is all about by definition. It is absolutely unnecessary to go there and you should apologize…

  22. sunny says:

and yeah thanks for generalizing! I’ve been a liverpool fan since I was like…fifteen and I’ve always wanted to come to merseyside and watch a game at the kop. After reading most of the comments here I feel like I probably should pass if I’m gonna be judged on the bases of not being scouse…I thought that’s what made us different from everyone else, we have open minds and open hearts. YNWA unless you’re not from around here eh?
