Soccer - Wayne Rooney Filer

It’s not just some spurious, summer lull tittle-tattle; Manchester United have confirmed that the club have both received and rejected another bid from Chelsea for Wayne Rooney, rumoured to be valued somewhere around £25million (plus add-ons).

A spokesman for United told Press Association Sport: “A bid was received yesterday and immediately rejected. Our position remains that he is not for sale.”

So, if Rooney truly does want to try his hand elsewhere next season it looks as though he’s going to have to slap his nadgers on the table and hand in yet another transfer request – which would certainly make things interesting.

We sincerely hope one of these three doolally transfer “sagas” (Rooney to Chelsea, Suarez to Arsenal, Bale to Real) materialise before September or we shall feel incredibly short-changed by this summer’s mooted madness.

    25mill? pfft

  2. Straight Dave says:

And this is the same guy who was more than happy to splash out £50m on Torres. A similar bid for Rooney and we’ll talk. Until then, Chelsea can do one. It’s not as if money’s important to Abramovich, so why are they pissing about with silly £20m and £25m offers?

25 million plus “Add-ons”, why the hell would manutd want Add-ons?? Why would they want Wazza to go on and win trophies and score goals??

@zed, Yeah but he was 29 and in the last year of his contract – different situation altogether.
Personally i have no problem with rooney leaving, why would we want to keep a player who wants to leave because he isnt the top dog anymore, which is essentially the problem, rather than show that he is the best striker in the squad. I believe it would be a massive mistake to let him go to another pl club, especially a chelsea team who are my bet for the pl title next year with or without him. abroad or nothing i hope. if not for the wages it would say make the whiney we sh*te play in the reserves for a year
