Liverpool 1-0 Manchester United – Premier League – 1st September 2013

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Liverpool v Manchester United - Anfield

Daniel Sturridge is currently basking in quite outstanding run of form and at Anfield on Sunday, the England man was once again the goal-hero for Liverpool, netting the only goal of the game to down David Moyes’ Manchester United, who were without the injured Wayne Rooney

Sturridge’s goal came courtesy of a very clever finish, with the former Chelsea man dipping to head home from close-range. That goal came after just four minutes but throughout the game the visitors struggled to find a way though Liverpool’s backline, although after the break, both Ashley Young and then Robin Van Persie, both went close.

However, overall, the home side deserved the win as Moyes’ dreadful record at Anfield continued.

Congrats to Dan – but I gotta say – I saw two or three chances where Dan could of slipped the ball to a very well set-up player – twice at least to Aspas. This is a shame as we can’t rely on 1-0’s. And I think Aspas is an awesome little link player – a shame he didn’t get the chance to grab a goal after great team work but no final pass – Dunno if Im the only one who noticed that. Liverpool needs more goals now and the team needs to share them – C’mon Jordan, Sterling, even Luis Alberto (when he came on) – you boys are quality have some more confidence!!

What was the craic with the van Persie grief?

It looked like half the Liverpool squad were winding him up something shocking.

@Steph. i saw the exact same thing you did with those layoff chances to aspas too. and alberto was WIDE open on the left side late on during that breakaway. sturridge needs to pass a little more and he’ll make the team that much better.
