Manchester City 4-1 Manchester United – Premier League – 22nd September 2013

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Manchester City v Manchester United - Etihad Stadium

David Moyes endured an horrific first Manchester derby on Sunday as he watched his United side thoroughly outplayed by rivials City.

Sergio Aguero netted twice, with his goals bookending strikes by the outstanding Yaya Toure,on the stroke of half-time, and Smir Nasri who scored on 50 minutes.

While City wideboy Jesus Navas enjoyed a fine afternoon, his United counterpart Ashley Young had a right stinker and was hauled off early in the second half.

Wayne Rooney, arguably the only United player to produce a decent performance, netted a superb free-kick late on to become the all-time top-scorer in Manchester derbies (with 11) but overall the visitors were well and truly spanked as Manuel Pellegrini’s charges blossomed at the Etihad.

All I can say is, good job City, completely dominated the match.

Also, why not introduce Kagawa and Chicharito, judging by Moyes’ demeanor on the sideline, he looked like he had given up. Let the lads get a couple minutes in.

I don’t think United have been outplayed like this since the Champions League final v Barcelona.

Nani always plays well against Citi; why did A Young start? what was Fellaini’s contribution today? he was there to neutralize Toure? Toure had him for lunch. when is Kakagwa ever going to get a chance? (and not as left winger?)

BAHAHAHA, I wish I had watched this match.

  5. Dont Worry says:

Shinji Kagawa, put him in the midfield and we will not lose a game. I dont understand why we even got him, such a great player a fantastic player and he sits on the bench. We will lose him.

The team needs some minor tweaks.
There is a difference from this year and last year. Last year the team had a let’s-win-it-all mentality because it was SAF’s last year and to send him out without winning the Premier League would have been outrageous.
This year the mood coming from the United camp is: well, we have a new manager, it’s going to be a new system and no pundits think we will win it again, so we can drop a few points here and there.
United needs to continue with the win-it-all and this-is-our-trophy mentality that made them so strong under SAF. There is a reason mid-table teams are there, because they have that mentality of just trying to finish respectably. Right now, that is the mentality United have. United will finish in the top-5, which is just not acceptable.
