Manchester United 1-1 Southampton – Premier League – 19th October 2013

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Manchester United v Southampton - Old Trafford

A late Adam Lallana goal secured a precious point for Southampton away at Old Trafford on Saturday, as the Red Devils failed to make the most of their dominance.

After a decent start by the Saints, man/boy of the moment Adnan Januzaj created the chance which was ultimately finished off by Robin Van Persie to bag the opening goal of the game as the home side looked set to cruise to victory. However, the second goal never came, with Wayne Rooney and Van Persie both missing  a number of chances to double their side’s advantage.

Then, with time running out, the visitors drew level when Lallana tapped in from close-range.

While Southampton are now fifth, four points off the top, David Moyes’ men are eighth, a sizable eight points behind league-leaders Arsenal.

  1. Jason T. says:

Ridiculously written article. Utd were hardly dominant with Saints having more possesion and shots on target. Should be more objective.

  2. Aussiehopper says:

When Moyes was at Everton United were on Top , now Moyes is at Manchester United Everton
are on top,? THAT TELLS THE STORY NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT.

  3. Philsky says:

You want objective? How about the two shots Utd had saved by the woodwork, or is that just some bare minimum? Ridiculous fanship.

  4. Dont Worry says:

This is a getting a bit silly now.

  5. Ant says:

Yeah very badly written and bias, Southampton played worse at old Trafford yesterday then they did last year, Southampton out possessed and outplayed Manchester united for the majority of the game they are the current form team in the Premier league and have a improved team so please have some respect not use words like “pinch” to headline

  6. john says:

And Rooney was offside for Man U’s goal….

  7. Nuno says:

Southampton only scored on the 89th minute, hence the “pinch draw”. Is it that hard to get? ManU was in front for most of the game but only conceded on the dying minutes, so THEY LOST 2 points, no matter if Southampton may or may not have played better than ManU. Jeez!

  8. Faith says:

Southampton were the better team but Man U were more clinical when finishing, if saints had rvp then instead of oslaldo the game would have been embarrassing for utd, but Man U are stil a dangerous side against saints who showed why they are top of the form table

  9. Jeff Richards says:

You are deluded and must have been watching different game to the 75,000 there. United have got an iffy defence a quality forward line with Rooney puuting in a real shift yesterday but some poor players in midfield led by Carrick who is a joke. Nani and the funny little brazilian bloke with a brother who is even worse than he is deserve oscars for their penalty antics. Evra over the hill. Please do not come looking for Southampton players however to replace this rubbish
