Manchester 3-0 Liverpool – Premier League – 14th December 2014

Liverpool’s dismal 14/15 campaign continued in disappointing style at Old Trafford on Sunday, a place where the Reds crushed their hosts 3-0 only in March.

Brendan Rodgers dropped Simon Mignolet (apparently ‘indefinitely’) with Brad Jones getting a rare league start. The visitors started well, with Raheem Sterling thwarted by David De Gea, who was outstanding throughout. However, soon after Sterling’s effort, Wayne Rooney took the lead for the Red Devils on 12 minutes, after good work from Antonio Valencia. Just before half-time, the hosts doubled their lead, although scorers Juan Mata was a good couple of yards offside when he headed home from close-range.

After the break, Liverpool again found De Gea in unbeatable form before Robin Van Persie wrapped up the win for Louis van Gaal’s side after some dismal defending from Dejan Lovren.

While the Red Devils continue their fine run of form which sees them third in the table, eight points behind leaders Chelsea, Liverpool’s woes continue with the Merseysiders down in 10th, a whopping 18 points behind the Blues and with much work to do (both in attack and defence).

De Gea, take a bow son!

Filling those legendary United keeper gloves with the best now.

Stick with us mate, you’re already on your way to being a fucking LEGEND.

Anything higher than mid-table would really flatter Liverpool at the end of the season. Player-for-player, they really cannot match any of the top four / five in terms of class and below that, everyone else just seems to be showing more heart / aptitude.

Who would have thought that buying half of the Southampton squad could go so wrong?

@Si: ya what a joke, buy shit players, perform like shit, Hodgson level all over again, bring in “bargain” players, pay too much for them then watch them flop every weekend. Depressing times these are
