Transfer Balls spots The Sun’s story that Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira is heading to Manchester United. Readers are told that Manchester United “lead the Kehedira chase”. Given the state of Khedira’s knees, hamstrings and leg muscles, you wonder how fast United’s will have to run to catch the German.

But there it is. The Sun reasons that with a return to Champions’ League football looming and a huge transfer budget, United will sign the player for around £150,000-a-week.

The story is supported by not a single quote for anyone at United, but we do get to know that Khedira’s agent has “held meetings with the representatives of all the interested clubs in the last few weeks”. If the agent is busy responding to demand from the likes or United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Schalke for his injured client, then who are we to doubt it.

Of course it might all be utter balls. After all, the Daily Star did report that Khedira has already agreed to play for Arsenal:

The Express said Khedia agreed to join Real Madrid…

So. Khedira to Manchester United it is, then.

After all, we read it in the tabloids…

The big question is, when will Paul Sorene stop telling us what he read in the Sun and start giving us his own take on the footballing stories of the day?

Chris, this Paul guy is really boring and unfunny.
I get it – tabloid gossip is bullshit. Tell me something I don’t know…
