Transfer Balls: Rounding up the day’s football tittle-tattle so you don’t have to…

Milner Moves To Merseyside

Linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, James Milner now looks set for a move to Anfield, according to the Guardian (and every other outlet). The Manchester City midfielder is desperate for a regular central midfield role and is even willing to eschew Champions League football, which both the Citizens and Arsenal could offer.

With Steven Gerrard off to America, Brendan Rodgers desperately needs to reinforce his midfield, with Milner, who is available on a free, the perfect player to add experience and energy to the Reds’ engine room. This one looks likely.

Real Reel in Raheem

Staying with Liverpool, Raheem Sterling is apparently on his way to Real Madrid, according to the Telegraph (via The Sun). As we are all well aware of by now, the England attacker turned down a big-money new contract with the Reds as he looks to play Champions League football. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all in the frame for the 20-year-old but reports suggests that Liverpool are set to open talks with Real Madrid over a £45million deal.

Of course, there is still the possibility that Sterling will be forced to stay an Anfield.

Costa Pines For Sunny Spain

The Sun breaks the story that Diego Costa is unhappy at Chelsea and wants to return to Atletico Madrid this summer. While the Spanish international enjoyed a rather successful first season in England, picking up the Premier League and Capital One Cup trophies, he’s apparently failed to settle in west London. Indeed, he and his then girlfriend split up when he chose to move from Spain to England and after an injury-hampered campaign, he may want to head south.

The Guardian, on the other hand, report that Chelsea themselves have dismissed these rumours, with the £32million star staying put in dear old Blighty.

Yarmolenko Alerts Liverpool And Spurs

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target Andriy Yarmolenko is set to leave Dynamo Kiev this summer according to the Mail, with the winger claiming that he has been promised a move away from the Ukrainian giants.

The £20million-rated attacker was key to his club’s league success this season and has been eyed by a number of Premier League clubs for some time. The 25-year-old starred in Kiev’s 6-4 aggregate Europa LEague win this season and would provide Liverpool or Spurs with both guile and goals from out wide. However, PSG and indeed, Chelsea, are also thought to be keeping tabs on the attacker.

Red Devils Sign Up Teen Dream Upamecano

The Metro tell us that Manchester United are on the cusp on signing Valenciennes teenager Daoyt Upamecano. The highly-rated centre-half, who was also on Arsenal’s wish-list, has apparently visited the Red Devils’ Carrington training ground and with a fee already agreed between the two clubs, the 16-year-old looks set to join Louis Van Gaal’s squad this summer.

Manchester City have also been keeping an eye on the youngster, but the France U17s star looks set for Old Trafford rather than the Etihad.

The best/worst of the rest:

Man Utd are still interested in Bastian Schweinsteiger, Aly Cissokho, Philippe Senderos and Matthew Lowton all look set to leave Aston Villa this summer while Moussa Sissoko claims Chelsea want to buy him.
