Transfer Balls: Rounding up the day’s football tittle-tattle so you don’t have to…

Red Devils Chase Bale And Varane

In quite of sizeable transfer tale here, the Express tells us that Manchester United have had a whopping £110million bid for Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane turned down by Real Madrid. Louis Van Gaal is desperate to shape his United side into title-contenders ahead of next season.

However, despite the failure to land the Welsh wizard and the silky centre-half this time, Van Gaal may well try again, particularly if Real still intend to push through a deal for David De Dea.

Man City Get Isco Fever

Eager to reinvigorate his ageing squad, Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini has his eye on Real Madrid’s Isco. The pint-sized player has impressed at the Bernabeu, but is reported to be unsettled following the departure of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Available for £32million, well within the Citizens’ budget, the 23-year-old would be a natural successor to the 29-year-old David Silva. Also, the fact that Isco has already worked with Pellegrini at Malaga is sure to work in City’s favour.

Higuain Headed For Chelsea

The Star claim that Chelsea are on the trail of Gonzalo Higuain, with the Blues looking to replace the departed (not dead, just left the club) Didier Drogba. The 27-year-old Higuain has bagged 51 goals in 98 games for Napoli, but with manager Rafa Benitez headed for Madrid, the Argentinian may well be out the door too.

With no Champions League football for Napoli, the £30million-rated Higuain is eager to return to the European big-time, something the Blues can offer.

Cuadrado Heading Back To Italy

Despite only arriving in January, Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado has struggled to fit in to Jose Mourinho’s hard-working outfit and now he looks set to leave this summer. The Colombian cost the Blues £23.3million but now, according to the Metro, the likes of Roma and Inter Milan are sniffing ’round.

Mourinho is not renowned for his patience, so this one looks likely although the Blues will be eager to recoup as much of that hefty transfer fee as possible.

The best/worst of the rest:

Former Chelsea star Michael Essien has signed for Panathinaikos, Newcastle United have been linked with Schalke defender Joel Matip and Southampton are eager to offload Gaston Ramirez and Dani Osvaldo.
