Transfer Balls: Rounding up the day’s football tittle-tattle so you don’t have to…

Man Utd Think Coleman Is The Mustard

Having lost out on Nathaniel Clyne, Manchester United have turned their attention to Seamus Coleman, according to the Star. The Red Devils are apparently planning to offer cash plus Jonny Evans for the Everton right-back, who has been one of the Premier League’s best performing defenders over the past few seasons.

Roberto Martinez has stated that the 26-year-old Republic of Ireland star is not leaving Goodison Park, but a hefty transfer fee and a decent centre-half in Evans might twist his arm.

Spurs Set For McCarthy

Staying with Everton, Tottenham are eyeing a move for James McCarthy, according to the Mail. Apparently the Republic of Ireland man is frustrated by the Toffees’ failure to offer him a new, improved contract. Spurs have been admirers of the 24-year-old since his Wigan days, and Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to add some top-class to his midfield.

McCarthy does still have three years left on his current contract at Goodison, although if the likes of Aaron Lennon or Younes Kaboul were thrown into the deal, then the Merseysiders might consider the transfer.

Bayern Discuss Deal For Di Maria

The Evening Standard reports that Manchester United and Bayern Munich have begun talks over a possible transfer involving Angel Di Maria. The attacker, who is currently preparing for the Copa America final in Chile, experienced a mixed first season in the Premier League and may be open to a quick move away from England.

However, according to Bild, Bayern are unwilling to meet United’s £35million price-tag, even though it would see the Red Devils take quite a hit on the £59.7million they originally paid for the 27-year-old.

Villans Fall For Praet

Aston Villa are closing in on a deal for Dennis Praet. The Telegraph tells us that the Anderlecht midfielder is the subject of a £7million bid from the Villans, who are eager to dodge another relegation dogfight next season. The 21-year-old Praet is already a senior Belgian international and he would certainly add an extra creative edge to Villa’s midfield.

With Lille anchorman Idrissa Gueye already almost in the bag (for £9million), the arrival of Praet would give Tim Sherwood a rather decent-looking middle of the park ahead of the new campaign.

The best/worst of the rest:

Liverpool have cancelled Javier Manquillo‘s loan deal, Chelsea’s Mario Pasalic is joining Monaco on loan as part of the Falcao deal while both Monaco and Sevilla are chasing Stoke City’s Steven Nzonzi.
