What Manchester United wouldn’t do for Javier Hernandez’s goals right now. The Mexican striker left Old Trafford in the summer after being deemed surplus to requirements by Louis van Gaal. However, this season ‘Chicharito’ has blossomed once again for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, netting a hat-trick in his side’s 5-0 home battering of Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday evening (when United were losing 2-1 to Bournemouth).

Hernandez’s first two goals were particularly tasty, the first coming after some nimble footwork and neat interplay with Stefan Kiessling while the second saw the 27-year-old turning swiftly on the edge of the box before firing past ‘keeper Yann Sommer…

Hernandez’s hat-trick sees him hit an incredible 15 goals in his last 12 goals in all competitions for Leverkusen, which is five more than the Red Devils have managed in total in their last 12 games. Maybe van Gaal is regretting that decision to get rid of the striker in the summer. Oh, and United loanee James Wilson also got on the scoresheet again on Saturday for Brighton. Oops.
