While Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s proposed move to Manchester United rumbles on, reports suggest Villarreal centre-half Eric Bailly will become Jose Mourinho’s first signing as Red Devils’ boss.

22-year-old Bailly joined Villarreal from Espanyol at the start of 2015 for a fee of £4.4million and has blossomed for the La Liga side in central defence. The Ivory Coast star also won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.

Bailly is thought to have agreed personal terms with United, with a medical due to take place this week. The Red Devils are expected to cough up a hefty £30million for the player, who will help strengthen Mourinho’s defensive options ahead of next season.
