Blink twice if you’re being held against your will

The way it’s being spun by all and sundry, you could be forgiven for thinking that Jose Mourinho’s first act as Manchester United manager was to lock Bastian Schweinsteiger in an unlit subterranean dungeon at Old Trafford and force him to exist on thin gruel and any condensation he’s able to lick from the walls.

In reality, the slightly dilapidated German midfielder, 32, has been training away from the full squad as the club attempt to find a buyer for him. It’s really not much of a hardship, especially as he’s being allowed to live freely and above ground in the meantime.

Anyway, Bayern Munich are said to have expressed an interest in bringing Schweinsteiger back to the club, if only to save him from the horrendous, torturous conditions he’s being forced to slog away under at Abu Ghraib Carrington.

Indeed, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rumminegge has waded into the debate, telling the German press of his outright horror at seeing such a noble, World Cup-winning hero being forced to train with fellow professional footballers:

I could hardly believe it. One or two players are going to think long and hard in future about whether they want to go to such a club.

Nothing like that has ever happened at Bayern Munich.

Lord, who knows. Maybe we’re wrong here. Maybe Mourinho truly is history’s greatest monster.

    :D… great stuff.

Mister Overrated for the last 10 Years… German medias and Mannschaft marketing depend on him though, that is why he still is given that reputation of “a legend”.

Reality lies on the field: He is awful.
I don’t know any legend playing this weak at the age of only 32. José is more than right in this case…

  2. Paul says:

Ridiculous when you think of the hundreds of players this has happened to in the past, who weren’t in the managers future plans but Mourinho goes have a track record with this kind of action. This is akin to playground behaviour, although he is German football royalty.

To be fair Basti hasn’t looked really interested in (club) football for about three years now. Whats with beeing overweight (not necessarily fat, could be useless muscle), frequently flying out of Manchester during rehab, starting to wear his shorts two numbers too big, marrying a tennis star,… He seems to be caught up beeing a celebrity and living the high life, and not that interested anymore in playing at the highest level. Should probably move to America

I don’t understand why these guys at Bayern are always talking about other clubs. It really pisses me off. Why don’t they focus on their own business?
Have you ever seen Ed Woodward, David Gill, Peter Kenyon or any other director talking about how a manager from another club should handle his players?
Just because Bayern / german football is on a high now they think they’re king of the world.

    • PetrovskyKSC says:

You are exactly right about this. Rummenigge thinks of himself as the highest moral authority in german football. Boy can’t keep his bleedin mouth shut, even though his own club has ruined tons of careers in similar ways.
Right now, Draxler is desperately trying to be released out of his contract at wolfsbrug, and guess who’s the first one to have a go at him? That bloody eejit again.
Everybody else would think it’s none of their business, but not that bavarian flathead

    • punchdrunk says:

Who in the right mind would listen to anything that twat Woodward has to say though!? The man is a liability.

  5. Zep says:

This German ranting has a wider aim. Isn’t it the Germans along with their side-kicks the Italians who are sweating to create a European super league to combat the ever increasing riches of the EPL? I sense that this is not simply a dig at Man U and their manager but the beginning of a slur campaign to smear English football. With the incoming billions and a pltora of world class managers Germany is feeling the heat around the collar. ZKHR

Because he knew that this “noble Worry Cup winning hero” was a damaged article. Times move on and so does everyone. Utd’s policy is changing and no one player is bigger than the game itself.
