After scoring on his Man Utd debut, his Premier League debut and his England senior team debut, Marcus Rashford netted a superb hat-trick in his first ever game with the Three Lions’ U21 side in Colchester on Tuesday night.

Gareth Southgate started Rashford up front in the European Championship qualifier against Norway and the 18-year-old didn’t disappoint, netting on 29, 65 and 71 minutes as the England youngsters battered the visitors.

The game ended in a convincing 6-1 win for Southgate’s side, with Nathaniel Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Lewis Baker also getting on the scoresheet.

Here are the Rashford goals, albeit with the second benefiting from a serious deflection and the third coming from the penalty spot…

Sam Allardyce was watching in the stands and it’s surely only a matter of time before Rashford is called back into the senior side. The striker’s United boss, Jose Mourinho, will also be more than pleased by the performance from his young attacker.

Rashford may well turn out to be rather more than just another Federico Macheda after all.

I really hope Jose wants him. He’s got such confidence, it’s not even like he tries to be good. He just is.

Roll out the “If he was Brazilian…” right about now.

Or “think how much better he would be playing for Pep…”
