Jose Mourinho had a pop at Michael Owen on BT Sport on Tuesday, with the Manchester United boss responding to the pundit’s recent negative remarks about striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Last month, the former Liverpool and Man Utd star Owen branded Ibrahimovic nothing more than a ‘stopgap striker’, claiming that the Swede was only brought in as a temporary fix due to the lack of world class centre-forward at Old Trafford.

In speaking to BT, Mourinho was keen to point out that Ibrahimovic (via his 13 goals so far) was on course to better Owen’s haul of 17 goals in three seasons with United…

Look at poor Michael’s face! At least he can take solace in his fabulous car collection…

This is definitely turning into the season of the manager v pundit beef!

Why, when you yourself were brought in as a stopgap, and did “OK,” would you criticize another as a stopgap?

    Come on, Mickey …
