Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba saved the day for Manchester United on Sunday evening, with the two substitutes combining for the winning goal against Blackburn in a tense clash at Ewood Park.

(A definite dive from the young chap, there).

Rovers took the lead on 17 minutes, with ex-Swansea striker Danny Graham calmly firing past Sergio Romero after a lovely through-ball from the impressive Marvin Emnes.

However, the Red Devils eventually leveled the scores just before the half-hour mark, with Marcus Rashford rounding Rovers ‘keeper Jason Steele and slotting home after a magnificent pass from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

After the break, both sides pushed for the winner, with Jose Mourinho sending on megastar duo Ibrahimovic and Pogba to finish off the game for the visitors.

The change proved decisive for United, when, on 75 minutes, an unchallenged Ibrahimovic fired home from close-range after a pass from Pogba.

Blackburn would test Romero late on but the Premier League side held on to book their place in the last eight, where a clash away to Premier League leaders Chelsea awaits.

As for Owen Coyle’s Championship strugglers, they can be satisfied with a good performance against the Red Devils.
