Tottenham said goodbye to White Hart Lane on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United, a result which sees them finish the 16/17 Premier League season unbeaten at home.

The hosts got off to the perfect start, with Victor Wanyama netting a rare goal on six minutes after a superb centre from Ben Davies.

Spurs were much the better side in the first period, with David De Gea thwarting both Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.

However, soon after the break, Kane got on the scoresheet, netting from close-range after yet another Christian Eriksen assist.

Manchester United managed to get themselves back into the game on 71 minutes, with Wayne Rooney prodding home after great work from Anthony Martial.

However, the Lilywhites held on to seal a deserved win in their last game on home soil before a new stadium is built on the same site.

After the final whistle, fans poured on to the pitch to say their goodbyes.

Before some Spurs legends were unveiled on a rainy but thoroughly celebratory evening in north London. Although Arsenal fans will no doubt point to yet another season without a trophy!

Mauricio Pochettino now faces the challenge of keeping Tottenham’s momentum going next season at Wembley, a stadium which proved to be more of a hindrance than a help during their unsuccessful European campaign this season.

Manchester United, on the other hand, now find a top four place out of reach, with success in the Europa League final against Ajax their only chance of booking a place in next season’s Champions League.
