The deed is done. The draw for the Champions League 2017/18 group stage has been conducted and, latterly, completed.

There’ll be five English representatives mixing it in the groups for the first time in the tournament’s history, with Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool all in there – Arsenal, of course, being conspicuous by their absence.

Anyway, the balls have been plucked from UEFA’s big bowls in traditionally convoluted fashion.

Here’s how the finished draw looks:

Manchester United have a do-able, but decidedly devilish draw having come unstuck against Basel in the recent past, while you’d back Man City to comfortably make it to the last 16, though some gruelling (emotionally, if anything) away trips lay in store.

Likewise Liverpool, who should either pip or sneak through just behind Sevilla if everything goes to plan.

Elswhere, Chelsea against Atletico Madrid in the Diego Costa derby should also be a keen fixture to watch out for.

And what about poor old Tottenham, eh? Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Still at least they’ll visit some lovely stadiums on their way into the Europa League..

Yep, I agree pretty much wholeheartedly – Man U, Liverpool and City should be grand.

Chelsea have a tough one, given how their still a bit light on 1st teasers.

Spuds will show everyone what they’re really made of this season, with that group…

And Celtic? Worst off, of the lot! Do you have some kind of filters on your eyeballs ?

    • Nuno says:

I guess the “filter” is that Chris was mentioning the English clubs… has Celtic moved off to England already? But should be a doable 3rd place.

  3. Liam says:

Yeah Celtic are in a very difficult group. Possibly because they were seeded in pot 4 of 4?

  4. Bill says:

If you shit yourselves at Dortmund, you don’t deserve to be in the CL. Granted Real should win the group comfortably but Spurs should make a fist of 2nd. Teams are very different from last time they met and Dortmund just flogged their best player. And last season it was the 4th seed wot won it so who knows. Exciting draw
