Wayne Rooney’s first time back at Old Trafford since his summer move to Everton ended in a hefty defeat, with United putting four past the struggling Toffees.
The Red Devils went ahead after just four minutes, via a thumping effort from Antonio Valencia.
Rooney himself failed to make the most of a couple of chances on the rare occasions the visitors threatened David De Gea’s goal.
However, once the former United star left the pitch with nine minutes to go, the floodgates opened for Jose Mourinho’s men. Very thoughtful of the Red Devils indeed!
Henrikh Mkhitaryan continued his superb start of the season by firing home on 83 minutes, after being set up from Romelu Lukaku.
Soon after, Lukaku netted against his former club, with the bulky Belgian firing home from close-range.
In injury time, things for even worse for the Toffees, with sub Anthony Martial converting a penalty after ex-Red Devil Morgan Schneiderlin handling in the box.
The game would end 4-0 to United, a result which sees them level at the top of the Premier League with rivals Man City.
As for Everton, they find themselves in the drop-zone as their atrocious start to the campaign continues.
