In a rare instance of common sense prevailing, the FA have announced that they intend to take no further action against Jose Mourinho after he was sent to the stands during the latter stages of Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.
After being tipped off by fourth official Mike Jones, referee Craig Pawson ruled that Mourinho had strayed from his technical area and set foot on the pitch during injury time, dismissing the United manager as a result.

With a look of bemusement on his face, Mourinho then shook hands with the majority of the Saints’ dugout before leaving as ordered, also refusing to make a fuss about the incident when asked about it after the match.
The FA have since confirmed that, after receiving Pawson’s match report, they feel that no additional disciplinary action is necessary.
Fair enough. Sounds just about spot on to us.
