Manchester United extended their superb start to the new season with a thumping 4-0 win at home to Crystal Palace, with the sorry Eagles still without a point or a goal in the league this season.

It only took the hosts three minutes to open the scoring, with Juan Mata firing home for the Red Devils after great work from Marcus Rashford.

On 35 minutes, Marouane Fellaini notched the first of his brace with the big Belgian converting an Ashley Young centre from close-range.

Soon after the re-start, United killed the game off with Fellaini scoring again, via a header, this time from a Rashford free-kick.

Crystal Palace rarely threatened the United goal and looked a side devoid of a spark.

Late on, Romelu Lukaku netted a fourth for United and his 11th in 10 games for his new club, as the hosts eased to an easy victory.

Jose Mourinho’s side stay level on points with league leaders Manchester City, while Roy Hodgson’s feebel Eagles stay firmly rooted to the bottom, with no end to their misery in sight.
