Chelsea secured a previous victory against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with Alvaro Morata netting the only goal of the game.

Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho shared the most perfunctory of handshakes before the game, but it was the Chelsea boss who saw his side have the upper hand throughout the contest.

N’Golo Kante, back from injury, was superb for the Blues against a United side who struggled to click into gear.

The only goal of the game came on 55 minutes, with Morata producing a superb header from a Cesar Azpilicueta cross which beat David De Gea in the United goal.

Although the Spaniard really shouldn’t have been afforded so much space in the box.

While Morata was sharp throughout, United’s frontman Romelu Lukaku made little impact on the game, managing to test Thibaut Courtois just the once and failing to make a single touch of the ball in the Chelsea box.

The introduction of Marouane Fellaini added a bit of bite to the United attack, with the Belgian forcing Courtois into a save while Marcus Rashford also threatened to level the scores on a couple of occasions.

However, the hosts were well deserving of their 1-0 win, a result which sees them go fourth, just a point behind both Tottenham and United themselves.

Mourinho’s men are now eight points off leaders Manchester City, with much work to do if they are to convert their expensively assembled squad into a Premier League-winning outfit.

They need Pogba. The team is built around him, he makes other players better. Pogba has the same importance to United as De Bruyne to City.

I’m a bit tired of Conte. What an idiot.

  2. FTWPhil says:

Laughable take considering Man U. is built on expectations for Pogba, and not the reality of Pogba’s ability to adapt to EPL.

    A ‘previous’ victory? Maybe ‘precious’?
