With a sour manager already moaning about all and sundry, morale reportedly on the slide and two 33-year-old wingers set to start as first-choice full-backs alongside Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, Manchester United look decidedly unready with the 2018/19 season set to start next week.

As if to encapsulate the mood in the camp during the last knockings of pre-season, the United squad produced this during training in Miami – what must surely count as the worst, most lackadaisical attempt at ‘one-touch keep ball’ ever performed by a group of professional footballers.

Horrible. Just… horrible.

Of course it’s just one dreadful rondo taken in isolation, but look at the body language. Where’s the vim and vigour?

Whether you choose to view it as ominous or otherwise, everybody in that video looks utterly disinterested.

Granted, they’re training in wretched summer heat and humidity in Florida, and they wouldn’t be the first English league players to appear sluggish and drained in those conditions alone, should they be given the benefit of ANY doubt…
