I used to think Ashley was such a nice boy when he was making his way at Arsenal – the sort of polite young man you could take to meet your parents. Then, something happened to him. He went over to the Dark Side, for what reason I don’t know exactly. It all started with this embarassing dive against Man Utd. You can almost hear the contemptuous sneer from Roy Keane, as if it’s not even worth berating Cole because the dive was so ridiculously obvious.

ah lay off ca- ashley, id like you to focus on gerrards’ even worse dives, which are also more frequent.
    thank you.

In all fairness if I saw Keano running at me like that I would have jumped a lot further than that :)

When it comes to the heat of the moment, a lot of players can commit fouls and a dive is common.
Ashley Cole was never a saint but he is not a devil either.

How about Shrek’s dive that helped end the great unbeaten run. Falling over Campbell’s leg that wasn’t there. Funny how things like that get forgotten when you’re the Great White Hope of English football.

Heh! Just to reiterate my point, The Mail have run a piece today on the history of this fixture and have given Rooney the best dive award. Must’ve read pies yesterday!
