That’s yer lot cocker

MANCHESTER United chief executive David Gill has ruled out the possibility of the club making any further signings before the transfer window closes next week.

United have so far bought Bebe (left), Javier Hernandez (centre), Chris Smalling (right) and Marnick Vermijl (18-year-old Belgian defender, unpictured) to the club during the summer, and Gill believes that the afore-mentioned additions are enough to bolster the squad sufficiently;

“Hopefully we’ve got the right numbers to compete on all fronts for the rest of the year.

“We’ve never bought older stars. We turn talented youngsters into top top stars. We’ve done it with Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Anderson and Nani.

“We think Bebe will fit into that profile – so our policy hasn’t changed. But if there’s a player who Sir Alex Ferguson thinks would change things we would go with it.”

Hang on. Never bought older stars? Hmmm.

Unless players like Laurent Blanc, Teddy Sheringham and Edwin Van Der Sar all suffer from the same hideous wasting disease, then I’m pretty sure that Gill is talking complete codswallop – although it’s good to see that his bullshit filter is still as lapse as it ever was, he’s nothing if not consistent.

Rather than any all-is-well youth orientated transfer policy, isn’t it much more feasible that the actual reason for United’s relatively restrained summer is the fact that they are, for all intents and purposes, virtually penniless?

    Did another signing go missing?

    Gill talking bollocks to hide the fact Man Utd’s recent tranfer policy is also bollocks. Also, can we please not call Nani and Anderson “Top top stars” or bracket them with Rooney and Ronaldo just yet…
