Richardson_1If you were Kieran Richardson, would you rather remain at a club that you are not good enough to play for and continue to enjoy your fleeting (if unimpressive) performances for England? Or would you prefer to move to a smaller club where you are more likely to get a regular place in the team and face up to the fact that you will probably not be picked for England again?

It’s got to be regular club football. As you can see from Shaun Wright-Phillips’ absence from the World Cup squad, if you don’t play for your club, you won’t play for your country.
If Richardson’s good enough for England – I haven’t been totally convinced – he’ll shine at any club he goes to.
I personally don’t think he’ll be in the squad when Joe Cole’s fit, even if he is playing every week for ManUre.
