My name is Michael Owen. I am aspirational, charismatic and fully fit, I promise. It’s great to be back in red, representing a world-class brand
I know Fergie is a pensioner, but what the dickens is he doing rummaging around in the charity-shop cassette basket?
Michael Owen is wanted by Hull and Stoke; the champions of England and the world (but not Europe) should not be going after players wanted by Phil Brown and Tony ‘Yes, I do wear this cap to bed’ Pulis.

I presume Scousers are loving this story to the hilt? I know I would.
Fergie would be better off re-signing Guiseppe Rossi or Diego Forlan than bringing in a player who I imagine hates United in his heart – if indeed Little Mickey has a heart. Or take a chance on Fraizer Campbell.
And didn’t Ferguson ditch Louis Saha partly because he was always on the treatment table? If so, does he really think Owen’s much-twanged hamstrings can take another season at the highest level?
This is a sorry state of affairs for United, who can’t seem to get any young, top-class players to come to Manchester. What’s up with that? Did C-Ron tell every footballer in Europe how crappy it is in the north-west of England?
Of course, the other side of this coin is that Fergie knows what he’s doing (as he’s proved time and time again), whereas I’m just some idiot with a keyboard and internet access. There is a lot of truth in that – if I point it out now, I save you the trouble – but I don’t see how Owen is a good fit at Old Trafford, even if he might bag the odd goal as a sub.
What’s your opinion on the Owen rumour? (It is just a rumour, let’s not forget that.)

  1. Sean O'Neil says:

Couldn’t find it more funny. We’ve turned down a move for him two seasons in a row and now the Manc’s seem to want him. It’d be a poetic justice for him to join them the season we win number 19. Hope it happens just for that.

  2. Decky says:

Best news ever hahahahahahahahah, he’s cracking up he’s cracking hes cracking fergies cracking up!!!! first signs of dementia

  3. G says:

I think Owen scored as many goals last season as Tevez and probably played less games, they guy might be injury prone but he can score and he’s so desperate to be a top club with the world cup looming I’m sure he would play for a basic salary plus massive bonuses. Hate the thought of him playing for Man U and as a Liverpool fan would still gladly see him back at Anfield – definitely worth signing on a free

  4. Deano says:

Owen is a money-grabber, that is why he is not at Liverpool living the dream like his mates Carra & Gerrard. Can’t wait to see him hugging Gary Neville………… you’ve only got yourself to blame Michael !!!!

  5. Deano says:

p.s. 1st Princess Di, next Michael Jackson, anybody else hoping Martin Bashir is thinking of interviewing Gary Neville ???????????????

  6. Sean O'Neil says:

I’m actually gutted that he’s knocked us back twice only to sign for United on a free! I know he’s got a better chance of winning the major trophies at United but where’s the loyalty? Why Mikey, why?

  7. paulfc says:

Doesn’t suprise me, he’s a mercenary and fergie’s doing it to try and get under our skin but we don’t give a toss. I’m just suprised ‘Sir’ Alex hasn’t gone for another young Brasilian boy, i thought he liked them (a lot)

  8. Deano says:

Good luck Michael. I understand that at the end of the day it’s the chance to win the Premiership that’s the driving factor and your old mates Carra & Gerrard will not only understand but be very jealous of the opportunity that they’ll never have.

  9. John says:

He is absolute a player that I still want to join Liverpool. But if he joins it would be in the same role as Fowler(Maybe play a little moore games). But still he is a good backup for Torres, and he is for free! I would never pay money for him or garantee firstteam regular. A good backup!

  10. Joe says:

“Of course, the other side of this coin is that Fergie knows what he’s doing (as he’s proved time and time again)” Like when he paid 30m for a 9-goal striker… or when he put out THAT midfield in the CL final and got absolutely pillocked. Let’s face it, Fergie’s actions are decidedly hit-and-miss, and that description perfectly fits EMO also.

  11. raffa the gaff says:

well said paulfc, I’m gutted he’s sign for Manu and not us, especially with our current finacial problems you’d think we’d be a the front of the que, I reckon Owen will outscore Berb and fatlad, MO lifting the 19th title is just sick!

  12. raffa the gaff says:

apologies that was well said DEANO

  13. Deano says:

Reeeespect to Joe, that CL midfield done okay considering the kid from “Different Strokes” who finally got taller was tasked with stopping Iniesta !!!! Another Fergie gem or should I say Djem (ba Djemba) !
Glued to Sky Sports news awaiting the confirmation of Owen (he’s not injury prone, although he is close friends with Eveil Knevill)

  14. Chris says:

“Let’s face it, Fergie’s actions are decidedly hit-and-miss” – that’s hilarious John. Why don’t you take a look at Rafa’s dodgy transfer and tactic history before opening your big mouth and making yourself look stupid? You think Fergie’s decisions are hit and miss, and yet we seem to win an awful lot of trophies.

Hahah, hit and miss? What have Man Utd won in the last 10 years, once you’ve got the long list of accolades, go and compare that to Liverpool’s, that’s hit and miss.

  16. john stevvens says:

Im gutted as reds fan, cant believe we will see owen wearing that dirty shirt!!
Rafa has lost out big time?? cant believe weve not even shown an interest?????
    GUTTED!!!!

“I’m actually gutted that he’s knocked us back twice only to sign for United on a free! I know he’s got a better chance of winning the major trophies at United but where’s the loyalty?”
Deano – you’re clearly not a pool fan but I’m gonna bite anyway. you’re wrong about him knocking LFC back. I think you’ll find that Benitez doesn’t rate him and knocked MO back twice before he joined newcastle and over the last couple of transfer windows. Good luck with the past-it mercenary….you best hope he gets injured during the medical

  18. apai_jb says:

either owen is desparate or alx going nuts!!

  19. Enko says:

Who gives a crap in honesty, did you actually SEE him playing for the magpies, he was rubbish.

  20. Deano says:

John, see my first 2 posts, the third from Deano is a fraud, you know the one with the selective Sky Sports memory, probably too ashamed to use his own name !!!!
YNWA (5 times), this sign off seems to wrankle with our Scum neighbours.

  21. Deano says:

Sorry John, should read Bob !

  22. Milton Keynes Red Devil says:

What next United swoop for Titus !!!!
£80M in bank and we are signing has-beens

  23. Dan says:

Deano and Paulfc both pertending to be Liverpool Fans, how obvious, and NO Mickey Owen never knocked us back, we knocked him back. The last decent season this guy had was in a Liverpool Jersey and how long ago was that, I think this is great news, how embarrassing for United to lose Ronaldo and Tevez and bring in Owen and Velencia, Second rate hahahahahaha

  24. Jason says:

Lads Michael Owen was a good player, he isn’t anymore, when he was a good player he was all about pace, like the goal he scored against Argentina, you will never ever see him score a goal anything like that, his best years where at Liverpool and since then he is gone down and down and down, it will always be Berb and Rooney starting for United with him being just cover, not ideal.

  25. Sam UNITED FAN says:

I’m a United fan, and I can safely say that I genuinely wish he had gone to Liverpool instead of us.
Not just for the romance of him coming and sweeping you out of financial trouble with a phenomenal season, but just because it would be nice to see him find his feet again, at the club in which he found them first.
I cannot see him developing at all at United, but don’t forget that we still have eighty four million in the bank, so boys, expect to see a few better signings than Michael Owen this window!!

  26. vie says:

Man this is the only article on the net that actually comes out and says the 2 most important things about the transfer:
    1. United couldn’t get anyone else to sign for them
    2. Scousers are laughing their arses off at United
I hate all this Fergie bum polishing the papers do, they were linking Utd with Benzema, Ribery, Villa, Eto’o & Torres last week and laughing at Owens brochure and offer to play for Hull and now all of a sudden he is “world class” again and a “genius signing” by the master.
