True to his word, Roy Hodgson announced his provisional England squad for Euro 2016 at 11am on the dot this morning.

The first draft of the squad includes 26 players and will eventually be whittled down to 23 over the course of the next two weeks.

So, here it is in all its glory…

Goalkeepers (in alphabetical order): Fraser Forster, Joe Hart, Tom Heaton

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand, Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Clyne, Danny Rose, Chris Smalling, John Stones, Kyle Walker

Midfielders: Dele Alli, Ross Barkley, Fabian Delph, Eric Dier, Danny Drinkwater, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, James Milner, Raheem Sterling, Andros Townsend, Jack Wilshere

Forwards: Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy

Obviously, nothing is set in stone as yet and three of those named above will be stood down before the end of the month.

What’s the gut reaction, Pies fans?

Carrick instead of Delph for me. Solid. Feel for Jagielka too but trust Roy’s judgement with Stones.

  2. tragic says:

^ trust…? i wouldnt trust Hodgson to know what country hes managing
this squad is awful and i cant wait for us to underachieve again so we can finally sack this clueless bellend

  3. syndex says:

As an everton fan I would take the Jag over stones any day he is a liability, that is a poor defence to be sure.

  4. Tom the Bees fan says:

awful how? all looks OK to me Delph and Wheelchair have barely played but are good midfielders, the rest seems fine.

  5. salvador says:

Mark Noble really deserved a chance, definitely over Wilshere who is made of glass or Delph who hardly played all season. Jermain Defoe over Rashford, he’s the reason Sunderland stayed up!!

  6. gamblino says:

He’s not clueless at all, he just hasn’t got much to work with! I’ve learned to be more realistic in recent years and the whole England thing becomes marginally more enjoyable. There are a couple of gems in there and the rest are over-rated squad players who are made to look good every week because they’re surrounded by foreign, creative talent! At least these younguns seem to actually want to play for the shirt.

  7. Begbie says:

He’ll play Rooney every useless minute, while even in the years he was in form he never showed up in a tournament. To that you can add an absolute howler by Hart at the wrong moment and it’s another tournament gone wrong. City’s forwards are capable of papering over Hart’s mistakes in the Prem, but it won’t happen in the Euros.
