Glenn Hoddle is said to be “responding well” after collapsing and being taken ill at the BT Sport studio on Saturday morning, the day of his 61st birthday.
It’s reported Hoddle suffered a heart attack and was rushed to hospital, with the Guardian quoting a source close to the family claiming the Tottenham legend was “close to death”.
However, an employee at BT Sport used a defibrillator on Hoddle at the scene, which restarted his breathing and gave him a fighting chance of survival…

Thankfully, Sunday brings with it a positive update on Hoddle’s condition, with a spokesman for the family saying:
The condition is serious but Glenn is receiving specialist treatment and responding well. Glenn’s family are with him and would like to thank everyone that has sent their support.
They have also asked for their privacy to be respected.
It goes without saying that everybody here at Pies are rooting for him.
Get well soon, Glenn.
