Romário de Souza Faria more commonly known as Romário, has the psychique of a lunchtime boozer. He’s rotund, lethargic and a pip-squeak (in fact, his nickname is Baixinho which essentially means short-arse). He’s still playing now, well into his forties and has scored nearly 1000 official goals, which has only (officially) been obtained only by Pelé and Gerd Muller. In his time hes scored beautiful goals for Brazil, Vasco da Gama,
PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona,
Flamengo,
Valencia, Flamengo,
Vasco da Gama, Fluminense, FC
Al Sadd,
Fluminense, Miami FC and currently
Adelaide United. Watch the cult hero in action scoring loads of ace goals!

Nearly a 1000 goals eh? have you seen the quality of the opposition, even the Brazilian press think its laughable.

I dare say he’s not scored the vast chunk of his goals in Aus’ though…

Definitely a great player who scored at a fairly incredible rate and often without doing an real training! Playing on into his 40s in a b-league is a bit cheap but what else is he going to do?
