Betting guide: England v Spain

Ollie Irish

7th, February 2007

Stevie Mac takes England into battle against Spain tonight with Stevie G as his skipper. Watford keeper Ben Foster makes his England debut, but of more concern than Foster’s inexperience is the fact that the Neville brothers start together for the first time since England’s ill-fated Euro 2000 campaign.

Pies would have preferred to see Jermain Defoe start with Peter Crouch, but the Liverpool striker’s lack of mobility will hopefully be negated by the pace of Shaun Wright Phillips and Kieron Dyer. Nonetheless, an unusual system, Crouch up front by himself and a defence which is 50 per cent Neville makes us fear a Spain win.

Spain to win (2/1)
Spain to win 1-2 (11/1)
Time of first goal 16-30 mins (7/2)
Xabi Alonso to score (6/1)
