Modern Football Is Rubbish: Benfica Players Exit Pitch Through Emirates ‘Check-In Desk’ Ahead Of Lisbon Derby (Video)

Arsenal fans steel yourselves, this could well be coming to your stadium any day! Ahead of Benfica’s heavyweight derby clash with Sporting, the poor players found themselves in the middle of some rather dismal corporate shenanigans cooked up by club sponsors Emirates Airlines.

The players, after completing their pre-match warm-up sessions, were forced to run off the pitch via an Emirates ‘check-in desk’, with airline staff awkwardly standing by…

Good lord!

The game itself would end in a 2-1 win for Benfica, by the way.

It’s not the first time Benfica and their sponsors have smothered the Estádio da Luz in cringe. Check out this ‘hilarious’ spoof airplane safety demonstration from 2015…

As for London’s Emirates Stadium, a check-in desk would surely only be welcomed by Arsenal fans  if it speeded up their exit 10 minutes before the end of the match.

    What’s the big deal?
They RAN off the pitch via the Emirates ‘check-in desk’.
It’s not like they made the players stop for any shenanigans…

And I say more, that spoof safety check won gold and silver lions in Cannes awards.
I was there and it was super cool to be part of it, i think it was very creative and special.

I guess some people just prefer to be negative like this article, pathetic.

It’s cute. But it has absolutely nothing to do with football. Do Chevrolet drive cars out onto the pitch at Old Trafford and have a race? Do Standard Chartered come out at Anfield and give a talk about mutual funds? Do King Power come out and sell you duty-free spirits pre-match? No. Because its stupid. It’s for non-football fans who need some sort of grand distraction to get them excited. 4 refs. 22 players. maybe some small children. blow the whistle and get on with it.

Can I tell you a secret? Promise not to tell anybody?

You probably haven’t realized it but it’s the 21st century already. Seriously!
