Former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne is in a serious, but not critical condition in hospital today after being involved in a car crash in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on Sunday evening.
The car, in which Gascoigne was a passenger, veered off the road and hit a signpost in the Sandhill area of the city’s quayside. As a result, a 36-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
A spokesman for Newcastle General Hospital, where the former Newcastle, Tottenham and Rangers star and another man are being treated, confirmed that the pair were in a ‘serious but not life-threatening condition’.
The female driver was also admitted to hospital but later discharged.
Poor old Gazza, always in the news – but hardly ever for the right reasons these days.
