Paul Robinson 7
Nothing to do, so can’t really rate him – 7 seems fair. Robinson didn’t handle the ball once in open play. Honestly, I could have played in goal against Andorra and the result would still have been 5-0.

Phil Neville 6
Deputised for Gary and didn’t let the family down. Solid in defence (ha!) and frequently pushed forward.

Ashley Cole 6

Cashley never caught the eye, but you can’t criticise any aspect of his performance. He won’t get an easier ride in a full international.

England v Greece: player ratings continued…

Wes Brown 6
See Ashley Cole. A Conference team would have given Brown a bigger defensive headache than Andorra.

John Terry 7

Settling in nicely as captain. Realised that Andorra offered no attacking threat and encouraged Brown, Neville and Cole to push up as often as possible.

Owen Hargreaves 9

If I was a Man Yoo fan, I’d be gutted that Fergie signed Michael Carrick and not Hargreaves. Another all-action display. 95% pass success rate too – always keeps it simple and deserved a goal.

Steven Gerrard 9 Man of the Match
All over the place, in a good way. Great strike for England’s second goal.

Stewart Downing 5
Not great. Tidy enough on the ball, but against this level of opposition he should have done much better.

Frank Lampard 4
Anonymous. Gave the ball away and generally took the wrong decision when in possession.

Peter Crouch 8

Another fine match for England’s cult hero. Will be interesting to see how he teams up with Wayne Rooney.

Jermain Defoe 7
Took his goals well, but apart from that he didn’t do too much to suggest that he’ll bar Rooney’s return to the first team. Any decent club striker would have scored at least one goal against Andorra.

Subs:
Aaron Lennon 7
(for P Neville, 65), Kieran Richardson 5 (for Downing, 65),
Andy Johnson 6 (for Defoe, 72)
