David Pleat has put together an interesting scouting guide on England’s midfield quandry in his column on the Guardian’s website. The former kerb-crawling Spurs manager has rated Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry on various aspects of their game to decide who is best-suited to partner Steven Gerrard. Pleat gives Lampard the better marks (but feel free to disagree with him. Years of sitting in such close proximity to Clive Tyldesley’s droning voice is enough to send anyone loopy), before covering his back by pointing out that Barry would provide a better balance in the side. None of this fence-sitting is required from you, loyal Pies readers. Who do you want in the side? Click below to vote.
