Seattle Sounders won the U.S Open Cup for the third year straight last night, beating Chicago Fire 2-0 to hoist the trophy – a victory which was met with jubilant scenes, lashings of frothy champagne and a heavy rain of confetti.

‘Twas a truly joyous evening for everybody involved…

Just try telling that to the grounds staff…

“God damn f**king confetti, three f**king years in f**king row…”

  1. Michael D says:

Good game by both sides, just Seattle had a bit more edge and clearly got the results; great goal from Montero and lovely finish from Alonso. Now the only problem is hearing the Sounders fans crow on about the win (for those who think Barca fans are obnoxious you clearly haven’t spent enough time around Seattle Sounders fans…you’d think the Barca players graduated from the Sounders Academy)

Oh and yeah, I’d hate to be the grounds crew after that. Bleh.

i think it’s good trhat not just galaxy with stand-out players like keane, beckham and donovan or ny red bulls with thierry henry are winning-it’s the real TEAM’s that are winning and it show’s the other players potentials.

i’m hoping the a-league will follow the mls and get even better than them one day :)

  3. Jax says:

Great game! well deserved win for Seattle, lets see if they have what it takes to win a treble

  4. Cole says:

Something tells me Michael D is from Portland. Whats wrong with us Sounders fans?

  5. Kenny says:

good try on the 3 years part. but the first cup was won in DC. So it’s the 2nd year Seattle grounds crew had to deal with this.
