Hull City 0-3 Newcastle United – Premier League – 31st January 2015

Hull City produced a dismal home display against Newcastle which sees the tame Tigers stay trapped in the bottom three.

Steve Bruce’s side started well but their lack of potency in attack once again proved their undoing. Newcastle eventually took the lead on 40 minutes, courtesy of a fine strike from Remy Cabella before Sami Ameobi netted another superb long-range effort just after half-time. Before the Magpies’ second,  the hosts did have the ball in the net but only via the hand of a very cheeky Elmohamady, who was booked for his effort.

In the second-period, Hull tried to get themselves back into the game with Nikica Jelavic going close but ultimately it was the Magpies who would score again, this time courtesy of a deflected Yoan Gouffran effort.

Newcastle go 11th with struggling Hull now just two points off the bottom.
