Former Newcastle owner and career gobshite Freddy Shepherd has backed Mike Ashley‘s callous decision to sack Chris Hughton on Monday, claiming that he saw the dismissal coming from a mile off and that he’d have taken the exact same action were he still in charge at St James’ Park.

Shepherd told the Daily Mail:

“I may be the last guy to tell anyone how to run as football club but no-one should be surprised.

“The signs were there, no contract, no transfer funds and no replacement for assistant Colin Calderwood. I’m surprised anyone is surprised. The writing was on the wall – remember, nice guys don’t win.

“If I had been Mike Ashley I’d have been worried as well. I like Chris Hughton, he’s a great guy, in fact I’ve not met anyone as decent as him but it was heading one way in my opinion.

“A lot of people won’t agree with me but I think [Ashley’s] done the right thing. I would have done the same.”

Freddy Shepherd there, still doing his utmost to cement his reputation as a waddling PR disaster-zone.

    Another fatcat clown

  2. Geordie Jeans says:

So Hughton deserves to get the sack because he’s a nice guy and has never been given funds to strengthen the team. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

So does that mean Ashley’s looking for a cunt?

    No wonder people hate Newcastle.

A note for Mike ashley when Freddy shepard is having to backup any of your decisions you are definiely a wanker

  4. syndex says:

btw “nice guys don’t win” maybe but they probably don’t get you relegated Pardew will.

How dare that idiot and the other idiot living in Wynyard Hall criticize Houghtons contribution.
Remember Hall borrowed 3 million to build our club into what it always should be and ran away with his 40 million, he should have left the money in and brought in new investors, but then he would not be living a millionaires lifestyle but we would know he was a true supporter.

  6. Alistair says:

Another fat TWAT talking utter shit, 12 managers in 13 years, shows neither fat boy Shepard or fat TWAT Ashley no what they are doing

  7. kalezu says:

Not a New Castle or their chairmen fan but it is dispecable what they did to Chris Hughton. Freddie Shepherd said “I may be the last guy to tell anyone how to run as football club…blahh, blah” then shut the f*** up!

He also said “… I like Chris Hughton, he’s a great guy, in fact I’ve not met anyone as decent as him …” He forget to finish his sentence by adding “except he is black!”

As far as his “nice guys don’t win” crap, let wait and see if they can win and retain their premiership status with behind-the-back-staber and undeserved coockney like Alan Pardew.

  8. Pete says:

I think it’s a bad decision especially when they are looking to replace him with Pardew.

Have a read of Newcastle and the managerial circus!

@ Kalezu – talk about your completely inappropriate use of the race card…

The owners are idiots, what else is new? Give Pardew a break, he’s not done anything wrong here. And I’d have Hughton at Spurs when Wonkyface buggers off to mismanage England in 6 months.

  10. kalezu says:

@ Ben Please look at some of the reports circulating in various media outlets including the ever reliable BBC
“BBC Sport understands that Pardew, who is an associate of director Derek Llambias, was in talks with Newcastle about taking over at St James’ Park as long as 10 days ago. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united). Let me remind you sthg….10 days ago, New Castle held the champions, Chelsea to a one all draw. If you don’t know who Derek Llambias is, he is an English businessman and long-term associate and friend of Mike Ashley and currently managing director of Newcastle United. Ask a NCU fan how they feel about this guys

    – As to the race card….C’mon man! Do you think racism exist only on the terrace. We are talking ’bout a premiership with no current or may I say three black manager ever since its inception. You don’t think that has anything to do with race? Give me a break. Or you think Blacks are good enough to play the sport at such level but can’t manage a team?

  11. […] If Newcastle thought it couldn’t get any worse, Freddie Shepherd has come out in support of Mike Ashley. […]

  14. Chris says:

Did you know that Shephard once did a robbery and he paid somone to go to prison for him.He is just a total gangster. We all know he is not a nice bloke, but a robber too who should be in nick.Well said Kenny.
