Not the happiest of chappies

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly “fuming” after a Swedish newspaper had the temerity to rank him a lowly second (second!) in a list of the country’s all-time sporting heroes.

Ibrahimovic came in behind five-time Wimbledon champion Bjorn Borg in Dagens Nyheter‘s list of Sweden’s top 150 sport icons, and he wasn’t happy about it – not one bit.

Having been personally congratulated by the paper, Zlatan replied:

“Thank you, but to finish second is like finishing last.”

Then asked what he thought the Top 5 should look like, the PSG striker added:

“I would have been No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, with due respect to the others.”

He did go on to refer to Borg as a “cool person” and a “living legend” so we think we’re right in assuming his tongue was firmly planted in his cheek, though it’s always fairly hard to tell with Zlatan.

As for the rest of the Top 10, it looked something like this…

1. Björn Borg, tennis

2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, football

3. Jan-Ove Waldner, table tennis

4. Annika Sörenstam, golf

5. Ingemar Stenmark, alpine skiing

6. Carolina Klüft, heptathlon

7. Ingemar Johansson, boxing

8. Gunde Svan, cross-country skiing

9. Peter Forsberg, ice hockey

10. Gert Fredriksson, rowing

For those concerned, Tomas Brolin was number 35.

As all lists, it’s shitty. Zlatan is no way near top 5. Borderline top 10 even.

    Where’s Gunnar Nordahl?!

Henrik Larsson should be ahead of him.

  4. Jarren says:

Something tells me Zlatan was not joking.

That “something” is Zlatan standing behind me right now.

    My hair is on fire.

    Where is seb Larson

Stefan Edberg would be at number 1 for me. About the classiest player I’ve ever seen.

What a deluded shmuck this guy can be. Obviously he is too ignorant or stupid to realize that there is a shitload of swedish athletes that came up with bigger achievements than him. Even Tomas Ravelli comes in ahead of Zlatan in my opinion… wee joke;)

  8. Ron says:

Gotta agreed with crazy Zlatan that the list is a bit off. Forsberg at #9?! He’s one of the greatest hockey players of all time and to have the impact he had, as a Swede in the NHL, is a huge accomplishment. His points per game is right up there with the greatest of all time.
