Good news everybody. Remember the Leicester City supporter who was after 5,000 people to sign his petition to name his unborn daughter after Jamie Vardy?
Well, we’re (semi-)pleased to announce that the plucky Foxes fan in question, one Ashley Marriott, successfully passed his target on Thursday after his intrepid quest made headlines the world over.
The upshot being that he and his ladyfriend Daisy will now be welcoming little baby Vardy into the world come June.
The proud father-to-be told BBC Leicestershire:
Jokingly the other night Daisy said to me, ‘I’ve been following your campaign, it’s not really got anywhere’, and the day after…it went everywhere.
I’m happy and I think she’s taken to it now – there’s no way you can back out from it now.
