We’ve already mentioned one member of Blackburn Rovers’ famous SAS strike partnership in the dull form of Alan Shearer but now we’re also giving Chris Sutton a shout out (for the kids) albeit courtesy of a more heart-warming tale.

Now 39 and well into the mid-winter of his playing career, the one-cap England man made his first appearance (as a sub) for Ryman Division One North side Wroxham on Saturday in their clash with Tilbury. However, Chris wasn’t the only Sutton on the bench, as goalkeeping son Oliver was also present. And what do you know! Before too long, Sutton Junior was forced into action after the Yachtmen’s ‘keeper sustained an injury. And then, to add Sutton to Sutton, Chris came off the bench after an hour.

Unfortunately neither father or son could prevent Wroxham going down 3-2 at Trafford Park. Still, it ain’t often that father and son both play together. The only other example I can think of (and at a higher level than the Ryman League) was another ex-Chelsea striker, Eidur Gudjohnson and his dad Arnor, who both played in the same Iceland side. Any other ones you can think of?
