A travelling band of around 30 hardy Maidstone United fans made the 500-mile round trip to Southport to watch their side lose 3-2 in the National League on Saturday afternoon.
However, despite the defeat, the Maidstone supporters were able to keep themselves amused, engaging in a classic bit of pithy behaviour when requested to remove the flags they’d affixed to the back row of the Southport stand.
RT @AwayDays_: Maidstone told to move their flags as it was blocking a sponsor. They politely did. Then did this pic.twitter.com/mUpDe2Y1Uj

Informed that their banners were obscuring sponsors’ logos, the away fans duly obliged when asked to take it down, before moving en masse to stand in front of the advertising hoardings in question.
Excellent work.
