With a quarter-final against giant-killers Sportfreunde Lotte in the offing, Borussia Dortmund’s DFB Pokal entourage clambered aboard their bus and set out north on Tuesday morning.
However, just four hours before kick-off, the bus ran aground in a farmer’s field while attempting to turn into a narrow country lane.

Thankfully, after BVB sent out an SOS call, a local farmer turned up and saved the day by hauling the bus from the field with his mighty tractor…

Then, just to cap Dortmund’s misery off, the match itself was postponed shortly before kick-off when Sportfreunde Lotte’s ground was hit by an untimely dusting of snow.
Referee Felix Brych took one look at the “soaked” playing surface and decided that he could not guarantee the health of the players.

Given that the last photo looks like the surface of Venus, maybe ol’ referee Brych had a point.
