Real, competitive football is here again! (And not a moment after the last season finished, it seems.) We ready to do this again? Phew… OK… Hell yes…
Motherwell turned around a shock 1-0 first-leg deficit to reach the second qualifying round of the brand-new Europe League. They ran out comfortable winners against Llanelli at Parc y Scarlets last night, in front of more than 3,000 fans - a pretty decent turnout at this very early stage of the new campaign. Three headers, two by John Sutton and one by sub Jamie Murphy, gave the scoreline a happy look for Steelmen fans - it was the SPL team’s first win under new manager Jim Gannon.
Motherwell play Albanian side KS Flamurtari Vlore in the next qualifying round, again over two legs. Ah, football football football, how we missed you.
