Let’s hear it for Henrik Larsson, who last night played his final game as a pro, for club side Helsingborg. It was an emotional occasion for the usually cool Swede, as the photo above shows.

“It really hits you when meet all this love,” he said to reporters after his swansong, a 2-0 defeat to Djurgarden. “I’m normally quite a cool character but right now I feel like I could cry. It’s huge to be able to end it on our home ground and it has to end some time. It’s rubbish to end things this way [with a defeat] but you can’t have everything in life.”

No you can’t Henrik, but for what it’s worth, you had a quite brilliant career and I never heard anyone say a bad word about you.

You also scored a shitload of goals, my favourite of which has to be your flying header at Euro 2004 against Bulgaria:

Magnificent.

Thanks for the memories.
