Falkirk’s stadium had to be evacuated shortly after the final whistle of their 3-1 win over Queen of the South on Saturday afternoon when a ‘suspicious parcel’ was spotted in the terraces.

Fans were rushed out of the stadium so the unattended package could be properly identified and dealt with.

Turns out it was a box of non-explosive chocolates that a supporter had left behind by mistake.

According to BBC Sport, the mislaid chocolates were “in a bag, wrapped in gift paper”.

“A police expert attended the Falkirk Stadium and the package was declared safe,” the club subsequently announced on their website.

Phew. Thank the merciful gods that the ordeal is now over.

to be fair, if a bomb had gone off in Falkirk it would have done hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of improvements
