While 53-year-old Jose Mourinho is set to take over at Manchester United, a seven-year-old boy is angling for a shot in the Inverness Caledonian Thistle hot-seat.

Following the departure of John Hughes from Caley Thistle, the club received a hand-written letter from schoolboy Ewen MacKenzie. In the letter, Ewen suggests that he can talk to his headmaster to “see if he would be up for me leaving school early for important matches”.

Ewen adds that “I’m sure it won’t be a problem as long as the players chip in and help me with my homework.”

The Scottish Premiership club posted the letter on it’s website with the message – “We think Ewen could be a top contender for the vacant ICTFC managerial position….what do you think?”.

Here’s the superb letter (addressed to club Chairman Kenny Cameron) in full…

The club then wrote a lovely reply to young Ewen…

Cracking stuff from the Jags!

It’s not the first time that a young fan has applied for a top managerial job, with the likes of Celtic and Bolton Wanderers also receiving similar applications.

While Ewen may have missed out on the job this time around, don’t be surprised if the ambitious young man doesn’t eventually make his mark on the game.

Not sure why you would blur the childs name on his own letter, than post his whole name on the letterhead of the reply.
