El-Hadji Diouf Sees Red After Final Whistle As ‘Shameful’ Old Firm Clash Descends Into Chaos

Even by Old Firm standards, last night’s Scottish Cup fifth-round replay clash between Celtic and Rangers was a tumultuous affair, with no less than three Gers players seeing red as the game quickly descended into disarray.

Rangers midfielder Steven Whittaker was the first man to have referee Calum Murray’s red card flashed in front of his eyes, after picking up a second booking for a 35th-minute foul on Celtic’s Emilio Izaguirre.

The two sets of players then clashed in the tunnel as they left the field at half-time, before Madjid Bougherra was dismissed in second-half injury time for incurring a second caution just before the final whistle.

However, sh*t-stirrer par excellence El-Hadji Diouf and his white stripe of pure rage still found time to be brandished a red card after the game, receiving a second yellow for dissent after already becoming embroiled in a touchline ruckus between Celtic manager Neil Lennon and Rangers assistant Ally McCoist earlier in the game – an altercation that also flared up again after the game had finished.

Here’s a snippet of Sky Sports’ post-game analysis, which includes footage of the aforementioned incidents…

As always with these things, the Youtube police will be on this pretty sharpish so enjoy it while it lasts.

Speaking of the powers that be, the behaviour of the players, managers and fans at Celtic Park  has since been branded ‘shameful and disgraceful’ by the Scottish Police Federation after Strathclyde Police were forced to make 34 arrests inside the stadium for a variety of sectarian, racial and public disorder offences.

Oh…and Celtic won 1-0.

mm shit stirrer diouf was lennon not doing a bit of shit stirring??for a manager hes an utter disgrace it was him who came over to mccoist ok ally said something but lennon only should what he is a piece of shit …the idiots had two death threats yet he struts about as if hes invincible and snarling as he goes mark my word this idiot is going to cause one big riot soon

  2. Jack says:

“Mark my word this idiot is going to cause one big riot soon” – Cause a riot? CAUSE A RIOT?!! F*ck me!, this reminds me of when Adebayor taunted the arsenal fans & their excuse for their pathetic behaviour was that he could have CAUSED a riot, the blame for a riot lies entirely on the rioters themselves!

  3. wicklowbhoy says:

trueblue it is exactly stupid comments like yours which cause flare ups in the 1st place . neil lennon deserves a medal for all the abuse your so called supporters have dished out to him over the years , from many death threats to actually getting kicked around by two rangers supporting animals in glasgow one night . when the fact of the matter is your team cannot compete with this fluid celtic team and resort to kicking lumps out of our players like last night . well it will not get any easier for your team next year either .
    JUST CANT GET ENOUGH !!!!!!

Surely if he shut up then the bigots doing the death threats would have won, or maybe you think that’s a good thing? I think Lennon’s reaction to whatever McCoist said at the end of the game was all wrong, he should have just laughed it off but it must have been something pretty bad to get that kind of anger. Diouf is a complete disgrace though, runs around like a nutter, gets involved with everything and probably should have found himself in a cell for trying to go to the crowd after getting sent off. Wrong on both sides in this one.

  5. jocky says:

trueblue, do you feel the death threats should have been enough to force Lennon to sit on his hands and not say anything to the shit in blue. Are you disappointed that Lennon didn’t observe the threats as seriously as you lot may have hoped. Strange and sad comments indeed from a piece of scum but we green bhoys expect this especially when your team are so weak and ours is just taking off. Keep watching because you may fluke a result but you will never see Lennon or anyone else at PARADISE bow to threats from you lot of depressed donkeys.

  6. James Atherton says:

I Line how you lay the blame at EHD door, the guy went over to the Rangers technical area to receive instructions and was racially abused by the Celtic bench/Celtic manager, yet Diouf is the trouble maker.

I’ll tell you now there was one person to blame for last nights carry-on and that was Callum Murray, his total collapse last night was easily diagnosed as pandering to the Celtic support.

Trueblue. Hiding under the bed this morning is where you should be, what a disgusting, disgraceful side you support.

  9. celticdog says:

@James Atherton ” racial abuse ” ??? You’re making this up as you go along. Provide a shred of evidence that Diouf has received any such thing from Celtic officials or players.
    Pitiful.

  10. mike says:

James sadly shows the mental capacity of most of the R*ngers support, You got pumped on the park by a team that you just can’t handle, when the referee was praised by all neutral parties for his handling of the game. Bougherra was lucky to be on the park after his tackle on hooper and the same can be said for Fleck when he tackled Kayal in the corner. To deflect from the utter beating you have just recieved you claim that Lennon racially abused Diouf, something that clearly comes from your diseased mind and not from any actual evidence. Get a grip.

What a laugh these hurting huns provide with their posts! Keep ’em coming in. Utterly hilarious.

  12. Jamie says:

Why did Rangers take Diouf on when they know what a disgraceful record he has and the previous spit spat with a Celtic supporter?…..it is obvious he would be an incendiary and unwelcome addition to the ranks of the spl

  13. JS says:

    Scottish football sucks.

    The End.

  14. Gibby says:

Bolton v Blackburn is hardly a 3d, HD Sun 4pm clash of the Titans ! But saying that last night was a disgrace. Mainly on Rangers part and i say that as a RFC supporter. The dire football we’re serving up is being papered over by EPL feckin rejects like Diouf who should never of had the honour of pulling the Blue Jersey on. I admire Lennon for what he’s done and doing on the football park but as a person i hate him with every bone in my body. He needs to learn the transition of player to Manager is the biggest and hardest job he will have at a club like Celtic and Ally will have just as hard a job after his antics on Wed. Smith’s lost the plot and at any level of football with a situ of 2nd leg cup game winner takes all to progresses – he puts 1 UP FRONT !!! – a feckin joke and the press are shit scared to say anything about it to him. 5-4-1 is for the likes of Hamilton & St Mirren who go for damage limitations. We’ve been void of any football for the last 2-3 yrs ! Thank god i’m involved in grass roots footie – couldnae part wey ma money tae watch that every week .

  15. Tom Jones says:

Stupid teams breed stupid players. Ban both these clubs for a few years to stop their “fans” looting, killing and raping.

  16. celticdog says:

@Tom Jones .. Thankyou Tom, your thoughts on the matter are greatly appreciated and should be passed on to the relevant football authorities to be implemented as soon as possible. It’s refreshing to see that there are still upright citizens like yourself out there with common sense solutions to combat these crucial issues !
Do you think we should also include summary firing squads as well …. could just nip any more trouble in the bud ! ;-)

  17. Anonymous says:

Scottish football is just a front that people derive excuses from to keep their pathetic sectarian squabbles alive. Like religion and all the rest. I agree with Tom–these two teams are more trouble than they’re worth.

  18. celticdog says:

Granted, there is an aspect of this fixture that is poisonous in the extreme, but sweeping generalisations of Old Firm fans are not that simple, believe it or not outside of the 90 minutes most of us work together and are actually friends. Sectarian ? For myself, i’m a non Catholic Celtic supporter whose best man at my wedding was a Rangers season ticket holder. Get it into perspective …34 arrests at the match…. about 200 related incidents in the city afterwards ….. there was over 50,000 at the match !! I’ll take my chances at an OF game any day rather than go near the likes of Millwall or the less savoury elements of Chelsea.

  19. DH says:

I don’t support Celtic or Rangers, but to me, Bougherra acted like a total disgrace, getting in the ref’s face and handling him like that.
It’s stupid that at games like this they let the two teams go down the tunnel together.
