Diego Costa’s 28th and 29th goals of the season helped Atletico Madrid comfortably extend their aggregate lead over AC Milan last night to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 1997, with the Brazilian/Spanish (delete as applicable) striker’s first goal of the night definitely worth a second look.
With the ball clipped over to Costa at the far post, the forward unfolded himself in mid-air and somehow managed to connect with a full-stretch volley that he steered impressively past Christian Abbiati in the Milan goal…
However, it didn’t all go Costa’s way on the night, oh no – Mario Balotelli’s stomach-seeking missile of a freekick saw to that…
Ooof.
